Massage Student Wins Scholarship
When Christina Pico applied for the BCL|Massage Envy scholarship, she didn’t expect to win. “This is the first time I’ve ever won anything!” Christina said. “I was hoping I’d win. I feel like there aren’t as many people in the world as passionate as I am.”
Christina completed the Esthetics and Master Esthetics programs at Bellus Academy last year and recently enrolled in the Holistic Health Practitioner program at the Poway, CA campus. She will graduate in March of 2016 with an impressive resume.
She heard about the scholarship opportunity in the student weekly huddle and decided to write an essay in hopes of getting some financial assistance for the HHP program. She couldn’t have been more excited when she was selected as one of the winners.
“I’ve always loved helping people,” she said. “Educating my clients and helping them understand how their bodies work and what products to use is probably my favorite part about this industry.”
Christina, like many beauty and wellness students, didn’t enroll in beauty school right out of high school. In fact, she was in a dental assisting program when she realized she should’ve followed her first passion. She made the switch to Bellus and says it’s best decision she ever made.
“This is something I’ll be doing for the rest of my life,” Christina said. “Bellus education is top of the line. This school prepares you for the state board and for the real world.”
