Rachel Taylor graduated from our Cosmetology program in Manhattan, KS. This is her story.

Rachel Taylor’s Story

When I first stepped through the doors of Bellus Academy, I was a young military wife with one little girl and another little girl on the way. I used my military spouse grant to help fund my education and began my course, knowing I would give birth half way through the program.

It was hard being out of the program while my baby was born and in the NICU due to health complications, but Bellus Academy gave me time and encouragement to focus first on my daughters health and come back as soon as I was ready and able.

I came back and took advantage of the weekend make up hour opportunity our school had offered, and I graduated just a month behind schedule. It was hard work, but I had all the support I could ask for from the staff and educators there.

Bellus Academy hosted a job fair, and from there I was hired on to work at Great Clips in Manhattan, KS. Bellus Academy helped me in so many ways and I will always be thankful for all the support the staff instilled in every student to help them achieve their goals.
