What If I Don’t Qualify For A Scholarship?

At Bellus, we want nothing more than to see our students launch long-lasting and meaningful careers; but unfortunately the challenge isn’t always finishing the program but getting started.
Federal Loans
Federal Loans are often very helpful resources for students to cover their education costs.
Loans, like scholarships are “need-based” and eligibility is determined by a broad set of factors and there are different kinds of Federal Loans.
Need-Based:
Subsidized loans are loans that do not begin accruing interest on the amount borrowed, until after the borrower (student) has graduated from school.
Unsubsidized loans are loans that do accrue interest on the amount borrowed concurrently- essentially as soon as the funds are disbursed interest is applied to the amount being borrowed and continues through the student’s time in school.
Both subsidized and unsubsidized loans are need-based and the amount awarded to students will likely be broadly varied.
In order to establish your eligibility for federal funding and scholarships it is necessary to complete the FAFSA which stands for “FREE Application for Student Aid”.

Non-Need Based:
ParentPlus Loans are federal loans that are available to parents of students to aid in reducing the out-of-pocket amount owed by the student/family (this is referred to as the EFC or Expected Family Contribution).
ParentPlus Loans are not need-based and can be used in tandem with other loans and scholarships.
