Inspiring Future Pros at Summer Camp

On July 29-30, 2024, Bellus Academy hosted a unique experience for 16 high school-age campers. For one weekend, campers got hands-on with salon services under the supervision of Bellus Academy educators. Our educators demonstrated hair and makeup techniques while helping camp attendees practice foundational skills for themselves.

Campers also interacted with Bellus Academy graduates, who delivered real-world feedback about working in the beauty industry. This gave campers a perspective on the many careers available, from salon professionals to special effects work and beauty educators – many of which offer an excellent work-life balance. They also learned about the advantages of beauty school vs. college and how to make the most of their post-graduation years.

This camp went beyond attracting new enrollments. It was also about demonstrating the power of beauty to our current students. Bellus Academy students enjoyed the opportunity to interact with and inspire a future generation, experience their excitement, and discover for themselves the difference that beauty can make in the lives of others.

Building a Reputation

Giving Back to Our Communities

Off-campus opportunities at Bellus Academy are about more than elevating our students’ careers, of course. Sometimes, they’re also about giving back. At Bellus Academy, eligible students may participate in outreach projects in the communities surrounding their school. One opportunity might see them providing haircuts to the homeless or military veterans. In another, they may volunteer for Habitat for Humanity or at Fashion Shows. We also provide training from the Cut It Out program, which prepares salon professionals to recognize signs of domestic abuse and provide victims with helpful resources.

Not only do these opportunities let students put their skills to use, but they also create meaningful connections with people and communities. Students build relationships while seeing how beauty can change the lives of those in need. When they return to campus, they carry new respect and passion for their chosen career path.
